| Josie Flowers graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in 1981 with a B.A. in Graphic Design. While taking an undergraduate class in Metals she discovered a love for creating art in gold and silver using precious and semi-precious stones. After graduating she apprenticed as a Bench Jeweler and Custom Designer for 6 years at two retail jewelry stores in Lexington, Ky. In 1986 she began her own venture; Josie Flowers Design, Inc. It is her love of animals and her volunteer work with the Woodford Humane Society that inspired "Silver Dogs" Custom Jewelry. These unique, and one of a kind pieces are each created to resemble your own "best friend". They are hand fabricated in Sterling Silver and are "wearable pet portrait's" that are all one of a kind. Josie also crafts Custom Jewelry out of Gold, Sterling Silver and Precious & Semi-Precious Stones. She works with each individual through the process of design to the finished piece. Josie has participated in Juried Craft Shows in the North East and South Eastern U.S. She now works at her studio in Versailles Kentucky, where she currently resides with her husband and three dogs - Outstanding Merit for Design in Nationally acclaimed AGTA Spectrum Awards. - Jewelry work published three times in Modern Jewelry Magazine. |
